World Alzheimer’s Day is September 21st
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning. According to BrightFocus, over 50 million people live with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias in the world today, and if breakthroughs are not discovered, rates could exceed 152 million by 2050. Each year on September 21st, organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia so that they can better understand those living with this chronic disease, generate more funds for research, and garner global commitment to discovering how to prevent, treat, and cure this disease.
In recognition of World Alzheimer’s Day America’s Charities is celebrating the following agents of change who we are proud to call our members.
One of the most cost-efficient ways you can support these nonprofits is to donate to them via payroll deduction through your employer’s workplace giving program (Don’t have a program? Alzheimer’s Disease Research (a program of BrightFocus Foundation)
Currently supporting nearly 100 outstanding biomedical researcher projects, Alzheimer’s Disease Research believes in taking educated risks. Playing it safe won’t lead to breakthroughs, which is why they support early-stage research and invest in researchers with promise – even if they’ve never received a grant before. Alzheimer’s Disease Research is forward-looking, imaginative, inspiring, and revolutionary. That’s why they are dedicated to funding innovative scientific investigations by the world’s leading researchers to discover how to treat, prevent, and one day cure this mind-stealing disease. In honor of World Alzheimer’s Day, your gift to fund better treatments and a cure will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Click here to learn more.
