A Bold Vision for the Future

Join America’s Charities, now through December, as we highlight different nonprofits and share how individuals and companies can Shape the Future of various causes through workplace giving programs

At Prevent Child Abuse America, we focus on delivering great childhoods to all children. We know that if we want the next generation of American leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to be as successful as they can be, we need to ensure that all children are raised in safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments. We work every day to build a future in which no child is ever abused or neglected.

The costs of child abuse and neglect are serious. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States spends a staggering $220 million every day on the direct and indirect costs of child abuse and neglect, including treatment, intervention, and incarceration. The CDC also estimates that the effects of child abuse and neglect result in losses of up to $44 billion to employers and businesses annually due to lost productivity, health costs and more.

But while the costs are high, we can make a difference today to save money and build better futures tomorrow. Our Healthy Families America (HFA) family support program delivers evidence-based home visiting services to nearly 100,000 families each year in 38 states. Programs like HFA are proven to increase family self-sufficiency, lower healthcare costs, and improve parent-child interaction while also lowering rates of child maltreatment. Not only do programs like HFA promote the stable relationships and environments that allow both parent and child to thrive, but research from the Pew Charitable Trusts shows that for every dollar spent on these programs, $2 in future spending is saved.

“We are proud that 92 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the programs and services that are making a difference for children and families nationwide,” said Dan Duffy, President & CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America. “Our programs build upon decades of scientific research that show a positive return on investment to society and taxpayers. With your support we can deliver these needed services to more families in more places nationwide.”

We know that our vision for the future is bold. But we also know that it is achievable, with your help. We all play a role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Whether you donate to our programs, call your local legislator to advocate for policies that support children and families or simply knock on a neighbor parent’s door and ask how you can help, you can help us achieve our vision. Learn more about how you can help at preventchildabuse.org, and join us as we work together to build a better future for all.
