California:

Statement Regarding Donations

Donations made online are sent to America’s Charities, who then works to bundle donor gifts into one payment for each designated charity.

To ensure accurate and timely disbursement of donations we:

  • Reconcile funds received against donor designations
  • Vet each nonprofit to ensure funds are able to be disbursed through the IRS Database, Office of Foreign Assets (OFAC), CA Attorney General and Franchise Tax Board and disburse donor-designated charities within prescribed timelines (no later than 45 days after the end of a month in which a one-time donation is made unless ineligible to receive donations)
  • Follows protocols established by the State of California to honor donor intent as closely as possible should funds not be able to be disbursed to the donor selected nonprofit
  • Do not wait for minimum amount to be reached before a disbursement is made
  • Manage returned checks/payments from charities by conducting additional research to verify proper address and contact information of the designated charity, and then reissue payment.

Tax Deductibility of Donations

Donations made to nonprofits are tax deductible.

Ineligibility of Donations

Please note that a nonprofit organization may not receive donations, should it be listed as ineligible by the IRS and/or the State of California and the deficiency is not cured by the nonprofit within prescribed regulatory timelines.

Depending upon the giving method selected by the donor, donations are sent monthly or quarterly (for payroll deduction gifts). America’s Charities works to send donations to eligible nonprofits in a timely manner while ensuring fiscal safeguards.

Statement on Fees

Fees for donations are not assessed to the charity. In most, if not all, instances, the fees are paid by the platform client to America’s Charities. The only fees that are assessed, if not paid by the client, are credit card transaction fees. These fees vary dependent upon provider but the average is 3.5% per transaction.

Statement about nonprofits

Consent from nonprofits listed on the platform is not required in order for a charity to be listed as a giving option. The nonprofits listed on the platform have not provided consent or permission to be listed and may not have reviewed their listing. Please note that all information listed on the platform is data which is publicly available to donors. If a charity wishes to be withdrawn from this listing, once the request is confirmed and verified, they will be removed no longer than three business days from receipt of request.

Donated funds may be used by a recipient charitable organization on an unrestricted basis, regardless of designations or restrictions made by donors.
