Prevent Child Abuse America
Prevent Child Abuse America® is the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit organization dedicated to the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect. Through our nationwide state chapter network and evidence-based programs, we help prevent abuse and neglect before it can begin by helping to strengthen families, support communities, and foster safe, stable, and nurturing relationships which help children thrive.
For the past 50 years, we have helped lay the groundwork for great childhoods. We provide the tools and resources that parents, caregivers and communities need so that child abuse and neglect never happen in the first place. By supporting families and fostering nurturing relationships, we help develop the next generation of parents, community members, and leaders.
We work to promote healthy child development and positive parenting through our signature Healthy Families America® (HFA) program, a leading, nationally-recognized, evidence-based home visiting program with nearly 600 sites nationwide. HFA helps guide new parents through parenthood and lay a strong foundation for children to grow and thrive. Families who participate voluntarily in the program receive home visiting and referrals from trained staff, and the program has been proven to improve child health and family self-sufficiency.
Our 50-state chapter network provides broad reach, promoting services that improve child well-being and developing programs –from child safety to social and emotional development to child bullying and parent support groups– that help parents raise happy, healthy children.
We also advocate for federal and state policies that will have a positive impact on the families we serve, while driving community engagement and understanding of the issue through public awareness.
Prevent Child Abuse America is consistently rated as one of the top charities for children by every major charity oversight organization.
