Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, Inc.
Catholic Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency offering services in twenty-one counties and seven independent cities in northern and central Virginia that comprise the Diocese of Arlington. Incorporated in 1947, Catholic Charities provides services to all in need, regardless of faith, background, or circumstance. The mission of Catholic Charities is to serve the most vulnerable by offering programs that help clients recognize their abilities, develop self-sufficiency, and maintain dignity.
Our 20 ministries and services operate throughout a 21-county region and include: Free Medical Clinics for the poor and uninsured of Manassas and Manassas Park; Christ House Men's Shelter (which includes a food pantry, emergency financial assistance, evening meal and thrift store); St. Margaret of Cortona Family Transformational Housing for homeless families; Pregnancy and Adoption Services; Migration and Refugee Services; Hogar Immigrant Services and ESL instruction; the St. Lucy Food Project (delivering food to more than 50 food pantries across the region), St. Martin de Porres Senior Services; Counseling Services; Car Donation services for the poor; Prison Ministry, workforce development programs and regional offices in Fredericksburg, Leesburg, Manassas, and Front Royal to serve residents around the diocese.
Catholic Charities has diverse funding sources, including direct contributions, the annual Catholic Charities Ball, special events, grants, workplace giving campaign and America's Charities. According to an independent audit, approximately 89 cents of every dollar spent goes to programs and services.
We work cooperatively with a variety of non-profit agencies, parishes and churches, and business, community and youth groups to expand our service reach, and to reduce any duplication of these needed services. We operate and support people in need across a 21-county region of Virginia, with site locations in Loudoun County, Warren County, Prince William and Fredericksburg, and across the beltway counties. This commitment to go where the help is needed is a critical aspect of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Arlington and where your financial help is needed most.
Each year, 120 professional staff members and more than 3,000 volunteers serve tens of thousands of clients. Catholic Charities works in collaboration with other local service providers to better guide clients to other available area resources; and seeks to raise community awareness about the need to support the poor among us through communications and outreach activities. We serve all people in need of assistance with dignity, professional care and compassion.
Donate Through Workplace Giving
One of the best ways to support our work is to take advantage of recurring payroll deduction donations through your employer's workplace giving program (or the Combined Federal Campaign if you're a Federal employee). With recurring payroll deduction, you can have just a little bit of money automatically deducted from your paycheck each pay period over the course of a year, adding up to make a big difference for us - and providing us with a source of funds we can rely on to operate and focus on our mission. And don't forget to check - if your company offers to match donations you can double your impact! If your employer does not have a payroll deduction campaign, does not match gifts, or does not offer the choice of giving to our organization, ask about bringing America's Charities to your workplace. America's Charities works with employers to develop employee-friendly, cost-effective workplace giving campaigns that benefit charities like ours.
