Business Development – Market Research Internship with America’s Charities

This part-time, unpaid position based in Chantilly, Virginia – a suburb of Washington, DC – provides on-the-job training and exciting career experience. America’s Charities is committed to working with you to ensure that the experience is practical and career-building. We are also happy to work with you and your advisors to receive college credit for your work.

Primary Purpose: Support America’s Charities Business Development team with market segmentation and research to inform and support and new business development and sales strategies. This is a 15 hour per week hands-on job focused on market segmentation, research, and writing reports. Reports to Kimberly Young, America’s Charities’ Vice President of Business Development.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research to identify client prospects for America’s Charities products and services, grants, sponsorships and other new business opportunities.
  • Evaluate prospect pipeline and provide input to develop and qualify leads for sales calls.
  • Conduct market analysis, track and report trends to inform business development strategies directly related to corporate social responsibility, employee engagement and workplace giving.
  • Manage business development data entry and reporting on client relationship activity in customer relationship management database including tracking against strategic goals, client outcomes and other established metrics, and prepare related reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate leads generated from marketing and communications activities and develop weekly and monthly reports.
  • Assist in the aggregation & management of the Business Development Target lists.

Qualifications:

  • Available for summer internship starting in May/June through August 2016
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Excellent research skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and organizational skills a must
  • A true desire to learn and dedication to the internship, including a commitment to coming in on time and working hard
  • Currently studying business management, marketing, or related course
  • Ability to work independently and manage high-detail, deadline-sensitive projects with professional quality
  • Team player attitude, demonstrated by being flexible and responsible as well as being a self-starter
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Advanced skills in Google Drive and web searches
  • Experience with CRM preferred, but not required

Who is eligible?

Current undergraduate and graduate college students are eligible for the internship program. To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree, certificate or diploma (full time or part time), and at least 18 years of age. You also need to be in good academic standing at your school and a U.S. citizen.
