Poverty takes lives. It steals potential. It shrinks choices – dramatically and with permanent effects. It leads to dramatically high drop-out rates and equally dramatic levels of teen pregnancy, crime, and drug use. Our neighbors who live in poverty (and again, there are far more than are counted by the poverty line of today) live in a different world.
