Celebrate #GivingShoesDay with Dress for Success® on #GivingTuesday

Dress for Success® is encouraging its supporters around the world to “shoe their best” as the nonprofit organization once again turns #GivingTuesday into #GivingShoesDay on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, to honor this day of giving.  For the fourth year in a row, #GivingShoesDay encourages women to donate their professional shoes to one of more than 140 Dress for Success affiliates across the world.

This year, ALDO has teamed up with Dress for Success to give something back to those that donate their shoes on this distinguished day of charity. The top 10 individual donors throughout the U.S. and Canada will receive $250 in gift cards.

By endowing their shoes to Dress for Success on #GivingShoesDay, donors have the potential to do double good—ALDO will also be awarding the top three Dress for Success affiliates that garner the most total shoe donations throughout North America with gift cards for brand new shoes, meaning that even more disadvantaged women will be able to put their best foot forward in the workforce.

California Closets® has also joined in to make the shoe-giving process even easier. In addition to being able to drop-off their shoe donations to their local Dress for Success boutique on this particular day, “shoe gooders” will also have the option of bringing their #GivingShoesDay donations to their closest California Closets showroom, with locations throughout North America, with extended dates from November 15 – December 31. Customers who donate shoes during this time period will receive up to a 10% discount on custom closet design and installation services at participating locations.

Joining the ranks of post-Thanksgiving campaigns such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #GivingShoesDay has proven to be a tremendous #GivingTuesday success for Dress for Success. Since its inception in 2012, this campaign has overwhelmingly amassed more than 8,400 pairs of shoes donated through the organization’s affiliates. An almost 400% increase in shoe donations was seen last year and the organization is hoping to continually increase this level of giving.

“Women often come to Dress for Success when they are at a vulnerable place in their lives,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide. “The donations that we receive on #GivingShoesDay literally help women feel more comfortable in the next steps they are about to take in their careers—and their lives.”

To participate, shoe gooders can visit the Dress for Success affiliate page at https://www.dressforsuccess.org/affiliate-list/ to find the closest participating location and simply bring their shoes to that boutique on Tuesday, December 1.  For those who would like to donate shoes for #GivingShoesDay, but are not near an affiliate to drop-off the donation, the professional footwear can be sent to the Dress for Success Worldwide warehouse in Brooklyn, New York, where donations of clothing, shoes and accessories are always accepted.  These shipped donations must arrive by December 1 to be considered for the #GivingShoesDay prizes, with a note stating that #GivingShoesDay is what the shoes are being donated for.  Additional information on Dress for Success and #GivingShoesDay can be found at www.dressforsuccess.org.
