September is Hunger Action Month & There Are Several Ways You Can Help Defeat Hunger!

Hunger is sometimes hidden, even as it affects 1 in 6 people in our community (that’s over 50 million people), it affects children, elderly, the unemployed, and likely someone you know.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 16.7 million children under 18 in the United States live in this condition – unable to consistently access nutritious and adequate amounts of food necessary for a healthy life. In 2009, the top five states with the highest rate of food insecure children under 18 are the District of Columbia, Oregon, Arizona, Arkansas, & Texas. 20% or more of the child population in 40 states and D.C. lived in food insecure households in 2009.

Speak out against hunger and become part of the solution during Hunger Action Month 2013. Taking place all throughout September, this is your chance to get involved with a nation-wide movement to help solve hunger.
